ADA Accessibility
Accessible Accommodations
At The Great Reno Balloon Race (GRBR), we are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, speakers, and staff as is reasonably feasible in an open county park setting at Rancho San Rafael Park.
Handicap Parking
Handicapped parking is available at the event for those with a handicapped placard or license plate. Please go to any entrance of the park and you will be directed to a handicapped parking lot. These spots are first-come, first-serve and typically fill up by 4 a.m. so get there early!
Due to high demand each day of the event, GRBR is unable to guarantee all handicapped attendees access to handicapped parking.
Wheelchair Accessibility Recommendation
We highly recommend that attendees utilizing wheelchairs consider deciding whether or not it is feasible for them to move into the area of the field event being that Rancho San Rafael Regional Park is not set up to accommodate wheelchairs in the field area(s). Please be aware that there are uneven dirt trail surfaces throughout the early morning event. A large portion of the event does occur during the early morning hours of darkness, on each morning of the event.
ADA Viewing Area
Due to uneven terrain and the lack of paved pathways, the field/pasture is not wheelchair accessible.
There is an ADA viewing area strategically located to provide, as best as possible, unobstructed viewing of the event’s main attractions. This area is posted on the GRBR website and is designed to accommodate wheelchair users and individuals who may require additional space or assistance. Attendees requiring ADA accommodations are given priority access to this designated viewing area. This area is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The designated viewing area is situated on the west side of the park along Balloon Boulevard. It is conveniently housed under an open-sided tent facing toward the event field. This designated area provides a comfortable space to enjoy the event. Our event volunteers can also provide directions to ensure you can easily locate and access the designated area.
